5 Best-Known Ways To De-Stress

Find Your De-Stress Journey

We have all had a week or a month of stress. The kind of stress that mimics insanity and a hot bath does not seem to help. Dozens of educators, spiritual leaders, and mental health experts have developed different forms of meditation to try to alleviate some of our tension.

Many of us are stress eaters. We crave indulgent carbohydrates like cookies, candy, ice cream, pretzels, and other sweet and starchy foods when we're stressed, anxious, or tense. These foods can have a quick fix but it may have something to do with low serotonin levels during our ups and downs of life. Social media can give us some relief to get our mind off our problem and we often scroll upon a motivational post.

After scrolling your feed you may come to a point which makes you feel pathetic for wasting so much valuable time. And then there is music.

I'm a Huge fan of all genres of music. I love listening to music, concerts and music festivals but sometimes music can't relax me enough to just let go. Depending on the level of my stress it can be added noise inside my head. Many experts say, listening to soothing music can be very relaxing—and slow tempos. It can induce a calm state of mind. This can be particularly beneficial when you're getting ready for a tough day at work, or if you're in your car stuck in traffic.

As much as we try to fight the inevitable our emotions will take over. Stress, anxiety, and tension will cloud our better judgment, our positive vibe, and any motivational pep talk to keep us afloat. What I have found to help me get over my dark cloud is blending different types or test approaches until I find the right one.

The following five examples are some of the best-known ways to help me de-stress my life. And hopefully, it will help you too.

1. Mindfulness is a form of meditation that urges practitioners to remain aware and present at the moment. Rather than dwelling on the past or dreading the future, mindfulness encourages awareness of a person's existing surroundings. It helps to examine what one has in his or her life and be grateful.

2. Exercise helps to boost endorphins and reduce stress—and research shows that 10 to 20 minutes each day is all that is needed to experience benefits. Take a walk at a nearby park and engage in the beauty that surrounds you.

3. Talk to a family member or close friend. Talking about your a situation out loud can relive some of the tension that is building up inside. Also, be open-minded to the advice you are given.

4. Find a spiritual or inner peace journey that is right for you. Read different books about spiritual awakening and take notes on key points that fit your lifestyle. You don't have to become a believer of what you read but it can provide some solace during a difficult time.

5. Self-Awareness check. Self-awareness is knowing what makes you tick. It’s understanding your own needs and desires, knowing what your strengths and weaknesses are, and being able to accurately assess your emotions.
