Bitter-Sweet: Happily A Different Age

Bitter-Sweet: Happily A Different Age

The good ole comment section. It's a place where anyone can just show their honest raw feelings or asinine behavior towards people. I like to call it the Ph.D. section, some pretty hateful discussions. And the discussions are about other peoples lifestyle. There is no mention of their own lifestyle. If a general personal question is asked about someone the commenter diverts the answer. Nowadays people must think, by all means, I am going to judge someone's life and mentality but not my own.

On December 1, 2018, Nick Jonas wed Priyanka Chopra. Hopefully, they married for love. It's why most people get married...right? But apparently, the Ph.D. section feels it was an awful decision to marry a beautiful, intelligent woman with a sense of humor. And what makes Nick Jonas's decision even worse is Priyanka's age. I have read bitter comments calling her fat, too old and his mamma. Apparently, the people with rude comments are in a healthy loving and sensual relationship with someone their own age. They are clearly scholars at commenting and they must possess some type of degree in matchmaking, age-appropriate dating or what makes a relationship work. When I read the rude and bitter comments, literally, I want to scream. My urge to make a screeching noise stems from seeing all the bigotry, contempt behavior, racial and gender tension in the world. And I think to myself, at least we should be happy for love and not bitter at an older man or women who has found happiness with another consenting adult.

Psychology Today published an article study on the disapproval of society as well. Because unlike others, the author of the article can clearly see it is a mental a.k.a. psychological behavior for the reason for disapproval. It has nothing to do with the couple’s relationship. Most articles will state over time the couple gets weary of explaining their relationship to people. According to Psychology Today, “New research out of Oakland University zeros in on why outside observers often have strong, negative reactions to age-gap relationships (Sela et al., 2018). The researchers argue that outsiders may find age-gap relationships less acceptable than age-matched ones because they assume there's an aspect of exploitation in the relationship, an exchange-based partnership (e.g., sex for a certain lifestyle) rather than a care-based partnership. “ The article also stated, “ Younger people are harsher critics of man-older age-gap relationships than older people. This is a surprise because one might expect younger people to be — in general — more open to different types of relationships. Perhaps younger people have more to lose from a reputation standpoint than older people if age-gap relationships are perceived as exploitative. As predicted, the less favorable individuals' attitudes were towards prostitution, the more likely they were to have negative views about age-gap relationships.”

Now I know there is someone reading this and thinking studies or facts “show” or what if they want to start a family. In 2018, doctors performed a uterus and embryo transplant in order, for a 32-year-old heterosexual woman to be able to give birth. Now more than ever there are more alternatives to have a family. And each year, there are millions of unwanted children in need of a loving home. So there is always the option to adopt a child. Second, studies change all the time. And the latest study revealed Lard does not contain trans fat and is better for your body. Television advertisements and doctors highly recommended taking an aspirin a day to help prevent a heart attack or stroke. But now, it is no longer recommended and can lead to internal bleeding and early death. North Carolina's cardiologist Dr. Kevin Campbell stated, "Ultimately, we must individualize treatment for each patient, based on their individual situation." And his answer to taking an aspirin pretty much sums up everyone's life situation that lives on planet earth. Life and relationships are based on the maturity of the individual.

This post is in honor of all the bitter and rude comments left for happy age-gap couples. Here are 21 Celebrity couples who have a significant age-gap and they are making it work.
